“God knows how to do things!”

When I read this note we got from a student at New World Christian School, a ministry we support in Ecuador, I felt a twinge of gratification.  While we strive to meet the material and practical needs of the poor (something we can see and measure), our goal is to make a spiritual impact as well (which can be a little more nebulous). It’s letters like this that serve as a nod from God that we are indeed reaching our goal, one person at a time…

My name is Mateo. I’m 16 years old and I live with my aunt.  I don’t live with my parents because of problems in the home. I lacked a lot of spiritual help and motivation to believe that I can be somebody in this life. God changes lives and I have always seen it, but I always asked when he would change my life.

Upon entering the doors of the school, I felt this presence that I had for a long time distanced myself from.  I had a lot of resentment, hate and desperation. But day after day of hearing the word of God, I would feel a little touch that made me think, “God knows how to do things!”

Not long after that, a youth shared his testimony of how his life was until he came to know God, it wasn’t until this day that I could understand that I had to change my life and that God was waiting with open doors, and that it was a second opportunity for me.

Now I am very happy, I am very content because I have the strength and love of Christ.

Our donors who gave toward New World Christian School should be commended. If it weren’t for their support, Mateo would not be able to attend that school, and who knows how long the Lord would have to pursue him before Mateo gave his life to Jesus. But donors did give, Mateo does attend, and now there’s one more life changed from the inside out.
