Hope in the Bateyes

In the Dominican Republic, Cross International partners with Good Samaritan, a ministry providing food and medicine to impoverished families who live on the impoverished sugar cane bateyes (settlements). The director of the ministry, Moises Juan, grew up on the sugar cane bateyes. He lost his mother as a result of poor medical care and nutrition. Now a grown man, Moises is motivated by his mother’s memory to care for the physical and spiritual health of impoverished families. Through the support of our donors, Cross International ships medical supplies and food to Good Samaritan Hospital. “The medical outreaches have been a blessing for the communities,” said Dr. Javier Ditren, who serves alongside Moises. “It’s as if God has extended His hand over the people in the bateyes.” If you would like to bring help Cross International bring food, healing and the hope of Jesus to impoverished families living on the bateyes, click here!
